Every engagement starts with a diagnosis.
We do not start with a tool. We start with the process that is leaking time or money, find the bottleneck, and put a number on it. Then we scope the fix, build it, and, if you want, keep running it. The sequence below is the menu.
Compass AI Group is an operations and growth consultancy for Canadian SMB owner-operators. Every engagement starts with a free 30-minute Bearings call and, when the problem deserves one, a paid ten-business-day Bearings Report. Fixed-scope builds cover the front office (AI Receptionist, Sales & Outreach, SEO, GEO & AIO, Paid Media Management, Websites, Content & Social) and the back office (Workflow Automation, Documents & Knowledge). Managed Compass plans keep the fix working and measured, and a Fractional Operations Lead runs it inside your business a few hours a week. Managed plan prices are published; everything else is scoped after the Bearings call.
Diagnose. Find the leak first.
A free 30-minute call, then a paid ten-day report if the problem deserves one. The fix may be process, technology, marketing, or AI. About one in six reports says: do nothing yet.
Scope and build. Fixed scope, price, and timeline in writing.
Front office is everything that finds and answers a customer. Back office is everything that runs the work once you have one. Each build is scoped after Bearings and delivered with weekly reviews.
Run. Keep it working and measured.
A Managed Compass plan follows a build. It is never sold cold.
Advise. A senior operator, part time.
For owners who want the diagnosis and the follow-through inside the business, week after week.
Common questions, plain answers.
What does Compass AI Group do?
Compass AI Group is an operations and growth consultancy for Canadian small-to-medium businesses. We start with a diagnosis: a Bearings Report that maps the process that hurts most and ranks what to fix. Then we scope and build the fix, which might be a process change, a website, a search or ads program, or an AI workflow, and we can keep running it on a managed plan.
Who is Compass AI Group for?
Canadian owner-operators with roughly 5 to 50 employees who answer the phone, sign the proposals, and run operations themselves. Most of our work is with clinics and dental practices, law firms, home-services and trades companies, engineering firms, real estate brokerages, and studios. Not a fit: enterprise IT departments, pre-revenue startups, or businesses outside Canada.
How much does it cost?
We publish prices for Managed Compass plans: Foundation $500, Operator $1,200, Operator+ $2,500 CAD per month. Everything else is scoped in Charting after your Bearings call, and you get a fixed scope, fixed price, and fixed timeline in writing before any work starts. Paid media is priced as a percentage of ad spend with a monthly minimum.
What is a Bearings Report?
A paid, ten-business-day diagnostic led by a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. You get a process map of the workflow that hurts most, a stack and software-spend audit, three to five ranked opportunities with the hours and dollars behind each, a 90-day plan, and a recorded walkthrough. The fix might be process, technology, marketing, or AI. About one in six reports says: do nothing yet.
What is the Compass Method?
Four steps rooted in Lean principles. Bearings: find the bottleneck and its cost. Charting: a written scope with a fixed price and timeline. Heading: the build, with weekly reviews. True North: measure the result against the numbers we agreed on, and keep it running if you want us to. We find the actual bottleneck before we pick the tool.
Who is Bobby Atwal?
Bobby Atwal founded Compass AI Group after 30 years inside multinational companies running operations, projects, and technology infrastructure. He is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and a certified project manager, and he leads every engagement himself. No account managers, no hand-offs.
Do we need AI at all?
Not always. Sometimes the answer is a better process, not AI at all. The Bearings Report ranks each fix by return, and AI only makes the list when it pays for itself in hours saved, calls answered, or customers won. Where it does, we build it and measure it.
How long does an engagement take?
The free Bearings call is 30 minutes. A Bearings Report takes ten business days. A Charting scope arrives within a week of the report, and most fixed-scope builds run four to twelve weeks. We take on a small number of clients at a time so each one gets Bobby’s attention.
How is Compass different from a management consultant, a marketing agency, or a fractional COO?
One operator does the diagnosis and the fix. A consultant hands you a deck and leaves. A marketing agency starts with the ad account before anyone has looked at the process. A fractional COO advises but rarely builds. Compass maps the process, ranks what to fix, builds it, and can keep running it. You own the code, the accounts, and the data.
Do you work within Canadian regulations?
Yes. PIPEDA-compliant data handling on every build. Law firm work respects Law Society of Ontario advertising and confidentiality rules. Clinic work is scoped for PHIPA and college advertising standards. Real estate work is RECO-aware. Where a regulator’s rule changes what we can build, we say so in Charting, before any work starts.
